This year’s INK Festival was a resounding success, transforming Halesworth into a vibrant stage for over 65 original short plays performed across 12 buzzing venues from 24–27 April, with a dedicated Schools Day on 28 April.

Visitors experienced not just a feast of theatre, but a full cultural takeover. Specially curated art exhibitions at Holton Lodge Barn and The Cut showcased work from more than 50 local and regional artists adding a visual dimension to the festival’s rich storytelling landscape.

Headlining events brought in big names and full houses, including riotous laughter with Paul Sinha, a packed-out Evening with The Comedy Store, and an engaging in-conversation with Paul Greengrass and Tom Shone. The festival finale saw a spirited Quiz Night hosted by Samuel West – the perfect send-off to an exhilarating week.

History was truly made this year with legendary critic Benedict Nightingale debuting his first-ever play at the age of 80, performed as part of the “INKredibles” showcase at the unique Halesworth Community Larder. His piece was presented alongside new works by Simon Evans, Mark Ravenhill, Richard Braine, and Simon Nye – a once-in-a-lifetime theatrical event.

Familiar faces added further sparkle to the proceedings, including Nigel Planer, Matthew Kelly, Josie Rourke, Lucy Kirkwood, Jan Etherington, and Luke Wright.

But INK is about more than just theatre. With a dynamic programme of comedy, poetry, workshops, and the ever-popular Free Community Sunday Funday, the town came alive with creative energy and community spirit. From newcomers to long-time supporters, Halesworth was a hive of excitement, welcoming all who came to immerse themselves in this unique celebration of new short plays and fresh artistic voices.
